Well, what can I say. A while back I had asked Luke, if I could attend a rehearsal and take pictures before he takes off on the ECT tour. Yesterday I got an email from him asking if I would like to attend a rehearsal today at an "undisclosed location"..
Obviously I agreed. Later in the day, I read his post about trying the set out in front of people, so I figured there would be a small "krewe" in attendence.
When I arrived this morning, the band was about a third to halfway through the set. As I walked through the door to the rehearsal room Luke welcomed me. The only other folks there other than the band were their monitor engineer Danny, Bob Bradshaw and his son.
The band proceeded to run down the set, and these guys ROCKED.. Eric and Carlitos provided some serious groove and Ricky, Steve and Luke built on that foundation..I can't tell you specifics about the set list, but I will tell you there's new ECT stuff, some old stuff and even a few nods to those who inspired Luke..
After the set, I sat and chatted with Steve about the band, the tour, his expectations. It was very obvious from watching him play and talking with him, that Luke really has put his heart into this music. He's fired up and his playing and singing (even after 2 2hr sets a day for a week ) show it.
The guys in the band are ALL amazing players and a lot of fun to hang with. Ladies, I got you some pix of them as well as Luke. I know a few of the cats have been lurkin' here on the net, hopefully you all will hear more from them in coming weeks...The picture below all link to bigger versions which will open in a new window. I would have taken more , but I was too busy groovin..
On my way home, I was thinking , "what a lucky b-st-rd! How many people get to sit on a couch and have a band of this caliber play..". Thanks Luke, Steve,Eric Carlito and Ricky!

That remembers me of a nice Toto evening back in 2004 when the Dutch team played at the same time Toto did in Hardenberg........ the team lost, but the 1000 people who didn't see that match had the evening of their life :-)

I'm still in high school, Holland and I buy a ticket as soon as I think I did well for school. haha when I'm allowed t the next year. haha! Then I hope to see you in Paradiso. I hope there's a chance that me and my Toto friend can see you also after the show. I met Simon this year very short in Ittervoort, Holland. Very cool! I saw you with my friend 2 times with Toto in ahoy 2006 and Amsterdam 2007 and with my dad 2 times earlier.
I really dig your album and I will whitness you some day on this tour! Good luck and I'm looking forward to it..but shit..grades first..I have one more week to go.

heck if i'm allowed to, i sure will. thing is i have a GOOD camera, my nikon baby, but no one ever lets me in at shows with it cause i'm not a journalist photographer... so i always end up with crappy photos taken with my "regular" camera, and that SUX. it's like i got the stuff, i'm standing at the very front, but i can't use it... gah.
and what bugs me the most is that usually here up north, the dude who gets to take photos sells them to a shitty paper where they use them in the bad review article.

guess we'll have to ask at the venues if it's allowed, no idea about berns, agnes.
and steve, if you read this and it's ok with you, i sure will post whatever photos i can get, whether i have to shag someone to take my camera in

Thats kinda disturbing - the photographers "allowed" dont care about getting good picts of the gig, most of the times only a "bad grin" or something to get along with the shitty review...
But also - with an ok from the artist you can always get in with a camera.
