Today marks the 3rd year since Katrina came calling.

My Mom and Dad are in Hattiesburg, looking for a generator that will pull more amps than the one we had during Katrina-because that one had to be re-built!

Mom called me from the truck and said that traffic is "gridlocked" on US 98. Some of it's Southern Miss fans coming in for the game on Saturday---but most of it is people driving up from the coast.

STAN mentioned Montgomery hotels are filling up or are full.
The receptionist for WDAM TV 7 told me hotels as far as St. Louis are seeing people from the GUlf Coast and New Orleans booking rooms.

If there's one thing Katrina taught a LOT of people-it's to prepare.

I just put word out over the local country radio station here, and called the news room at WDAM---spoke to the news director for the entire station, "Hey Randy---might wanna issue traffic alerts-looks bad on 90 W."

He said they'd get the word out.
(I was just doing what Mom asked me to do!).

So we wait... Gustav is now officiall a CATEGORY 1 Hurricane. He's messing with Cuba next---then only God knows where from there.

I'll update as much as I can from here for those concerned.
We will be OKAY. God has not once left us stranded, or hurt during one of these storms. He have protected my family and me. He has slso given Strength for clean-up efffort afterwards.

We tolerate them.
We don't like them, but we tolerate them.

More later.

Here in Alabama

I heard on the news this morning that all th hotels as far north as Montgomery, which is about 200 miles north of Mobile, are all booked up! I would imagine as the storm moves closer to the gulf coast we will see alot more people up our way. I am midway between Birmingham and Nashville (about 325 miles north of Mobile)!

I hope and pray this doesn't reek havoc on our friends in family on the gulf coast. Not to mention the tornadoes we usually see from these storms!

I will be praying for the gulf coast residents as the storm draws near. I ask for the same for us who could see some residual effects depending on where it tracks!

STAN: iVAN THE TERRIBLE II

Stan

I know one young lady who is Down Syndrome who is in Nashville perhaps already so she can tolerate heat/humidity and still breathe (asthmatic-BAD!).

I know that we either side of the line could use more rain as the drought has been bad, but I'm with you praying for the Gulf Coast.

I know people who live there, and they have made their livings working at a church that sheltered clean-up crews after Katrina.
One young lady is possible back in her home town of Wiggins---just to ride it out with her Mom, who is Diabetic.

So you make plans. You get it all together. I'm washing my last load of laundry for what I hope is the next two weeks.
We'll see.

IVAN didn't do you guys any favors in '04. I know we cleaned up for the day after that. But Mobile itself got slammed-and I THINK they rebuilt the bridge in Pensacola...hope it's re-enforced!

Batten 'em down.
And you guys up that way are in my prayers. These things spin tornados and that is NO fun.
