"Back to the Future"

This is kinda scary. My sister posted this photo at our high school alumni myspage page.

That's ME sitting beside our feature twirler sportin' the Aussie w/ Maroon Plume.

The blonde in the first row (band uniform) is Robbie Lee Bond. She was brutally murdered in 1995. There is NO TUNE played through my horn, during which I don't hear her PHAT sound ringing in my right ear. When you sit 8in. from somebody for 3 years, their sound WILL affect your own. Hers still reminds me to PLAY---big notes. Fat sound.

This was us. This was IT. 45 players.
We played "AFRICA" on the last concert I did before I graduated.
I was (as drum major) RAGGING THE PERCUSSION FIERCELY about the groove.....

We didn't sound too bad on a TOTO tune.
IT HELPS that the Band Director was a big Chicago fan early in his career and recognized TOTOs music for what is is.
SOLID.

GRAZIA: Yes, you did.

My school colours:

Maroon (now Cardinal)
GOLD
White
Black

So the band director came up with "Band of Gold" (he'd looked down at his wedding ring---and "wel, DOH!").

Joe's friggin' brillant.
I watched the 2008 edition LAST NIGHT---THEY PLAYED THE WHOLE SHOW of tunes written by JOE WILLIAMS DAD.
"Jaws", "Star Wars", "Indiana Jones"....the whole SHOW was stuff by John Williams.
HARD SHOW.
Some of these new kids is only 12....13....
Beginners.
i WAS SO PROUD of them last night.
They sounded real good on a HARD tune-set.
Joe's Dad is a MONSTER.
His songs are VERY "Difficile"

I know...John Williams

glad to hear your happiness and proud...I can Imagine how John Williams music is 'Difficile'

Grazia: Joe's Dad!!!!!!!!

I have to say very honestly that Joe's Dad writes some REALLY ROUGH charts.
He is paid well for his work because he knows EXACTLY what he wants to hear from those in front of him. He led the "Boston Pops" Orchestra for MANY MANY years here in the USA.

I would probably need 2 years to work on the "E.T." score to get it to "playable". Not perfect---but playable...musically sound. He is a GENIUS, John is.

There is a song "Liberty Fanfare" that USM's "Pride of Mississippi" have played at football games.

IT IS THE FIRST THING IN THIS CLIP

the Doppler Effect is involved.
