This X5 is one big mother to detail but after working the paint 6 times with machines, it came out pretty well. Two layers of sealant to top it off. Sorry the picture is a little blurry.
Customer was really pleased, he's an old friend and he called twice afterwards to say he liked the job.
Peace/Daniel

I use to detail and here's a truck I got ready for show.

On new rigs, it's not a good thing to wax all the time...it builds and will over time make the paint dull. So I don't wax often at all, I use a body shine after I clean the rig. Always use soap that is strickly for vehicles .... AND NEVER DRY THE VEHICLE with anything other than cloth baby diapers. Once it's dry, then apply the body shine. For the tires, use a tire shine. For the chrome, use windex and a cloth baby diaper.

I'll show it to J , he loves big cars haha. My dad sells paint and stuff like that for cars .... Guess what J wants to do when he grows up ?

Hey Daniel, what do you use on red cars? My is a deep brick red and really needs some help! What's your suggestion?
Thanks, Jeanne

Red paint without clear paint on is tricky. I have to ask for help here on how to put pictures in a post like this because then I can post before-after pictures on a -92 Mazda I retailed.
It's the UV in the sunlight that eats the red paint but paint can be restored. You would need to work the paint with a professional polisher. There are many polish brands like Meguiar's, XMT and what not. Waxes and sealants are abundant in the US. www.autogeek.net could be a place to check out a little about products. Have been a member of the forum for a week, just found it. I would recommend you to talk to a local detail shop with good reputation because it will take serious work to restore the paint to red again.
Ask them if they can put on a long lasting sealant on top and how much they would charge to take care of it once a year if you have the money for it. The first time it's always the biggest job, polishing the paint back to life is the big challenge. Cars are expensive so it might be worth it to let them do the job? If you consider doing it yourself, I might have a few suggestions to make.
Thanks for asking.
Sincerely Daniel

I'll look into it. And it is a big job on my Suburban, but also I want to keep it up! Jeanne

Do you or anybody you know own an Orbit Sander? You can use one of those to polish and wax your car with a slight modification. There is a plastic ring mounted down around the Velcro pad and you need to remove that so you give the machine enough air for cooling when you use a 150 mm polishing pad on it. It's a smooth machine to work with. I have done cars with this baby so I know it works.

Check it out, seeing is believing.
Daniel

Then you go to the shop where you can find Meguiar's or XMT or Pinnacle or what not. Tell 'em you need medium abrasive polish, a fine polish and the fattest wax they have. Use three medium pads 150 mm and use one pad with one sort of chemical. To remove wax residues, use a soft 150 mm pad and polish to high glace. Yes, you have to polish it twice and then wax it, good exercise but let the machine do the work for ya. Check out video's on autogeek and keep me posted.
Daniel

You could do some change by waxing the car with a good waxpolish with a machine you probably own or can borrow. That would bring some glaze to the paint but not restore it. Go to http://www.autogeek.net/poca746varap.html to check one machine out.
The other reason for the paint to fade is that it is oxidizing from all air pollution and what not. Professional polish will bring it back to life.
I have noticed women are just as eager as men to have a good looking clean car and you are easier to learn as well. Thanks for great response.
Daniel

Nice work Daniel. I wish you could do that to my car!!!
:)~

No problem, just have to go to LA with my gear. What ride do you have?

White Toyota 4Runner. Hard water spots are killing me. And I can't park it in the garage. I have to much crap!!!
:)~
Now that's what I call an expensive detail...
Ticket from Sweden? Thank goodness I have a spare room to put you in!!!

White is easy to clean up by doing a two-step polishing and cleaning the car again before waxing. When you get here you will see what I mean, seeing is believing.
Daniel

The dealer owes me a detail if I can ever find the time to get the car in.
:)~

THAT x5 is SPIT-SHINED.
Way t' go Daniel.
T

Thanks T.
I'm getting better results today faster, this is f-u-n. I'll detail for free, it's everything else I want salary for.....hehehe.

If he owes you, bring it in! No doubt about it.

Woah...
I could really use some adv...
My old BMW convertible is coming out now, but... it needs some fixing. "Alpine White" it is... Making it REALLY shine - "how to" [and with what]? [Got some small "scratches" to...]
Thanx Daniel! :)

I think you need a good polish that removes the oxides in the paint. From here I'll take the rest in Swedish:
Mvh Daniel
