Isn't It A Bit Too Late For Waking Up?

Today, I had to laugh out loud at what some anonimous citizen had pasted over a political billboard for the next City elections in Rome. The original copy says "Cleaner, more organized, more orderly. More Rome" and "Rome. A modern capital, a human capital - Rutelli for Mayor". The sticker which was pasted over Rutelli's face says, in Roman vernacular, "Isn't it a bit too late for you to wake up??".

Hope so Tanya

Promises... promises... They're all the same, especially if you've been active in national politics for over 25 years!

I'm so sick of it all...

we've got these candidates making all of these promises and saying I'll stop this, that or the other thing and not a single one can tell you HOW they plan on doing it! Whatever!!!

On my way to work last week there is a sign at the Herb Alpert High school and it read
Wanted
National Leader
Must be
Smart and Honest

And this is coming out of high school students

Hey T???

Having watched all this from the perspective of having a nephew just join the Navy, I can tell you the ONLY ONE (!) of the candidates for US President that I'd even remotely consider voting for?

McCain.

Why?
He's been IN the military just like my Papaw was and my nephew's gonna be. HE is the *only* candidate who even bothered to figure out HOW to care for aging veterans.

I have yet to read a plan of such the same from either Obama or H...erm, Billary.

ps: Billary's had the misfortune of almost going broke financially at least twice running for the nomination on her side of the fence. If she can't run a campaign without being solvent---oh, and without people DYING.... I don't want her in the White House. (At least she stopped long enough to attend the funeral of one of the guys in her motorcade!).

She's made all these promises this past week to people in Hattiesburg. Ya know what?
I haven't heard ONE DETAIL of HOW she will implement any of those!

Not a real good way to secure my vote if you come to my town and spout off but can't tell me HOW you're gonna help this place get back on its feet post-Katrina. (Yeah; there are FEMA trailers loaded with toxic levels of formaldehyde....there are also people in my town who still have blue tarps on their roofs!).
Ok; so JUST HOW is Bill the 2nd gonna FIX THAT???

Oh; and ...withdrawing troops 90 days after (s)he takes office? I'd love to see that one.
HOW?

Did she even CONSIDER the logistics involved??
What of the infrastructure the guys and gals have put together over there? (Schools, etc.).
I got buddies who've come and gone TWICE. I don't see how she can bring their pals home in 90 days without that whole infrastructure crumbling.
(That is a statement SOLELY based on military stuff, and stories I've heard my Grandpa tell of his time in WWII...moving troops ANYWHERE takes time; sometimes MONTHS....McCain says 2009 they'll be home. At least he has a legit strategy).

But I have heard ABSOFRIGGIN'LUTELY NOTHING constructive from Bill's other half about how she's gonna help my state.
At least I know that my sister's father-in-law will be cared for properly by the VA under McCain's plan to restructure and augment VA hospitals nationwide.

Heck; I'm the grandkid of a WWII Vet. I'd vote for MCCain on THAT score.
But the primary's not 'til Tuesday here.
I have a couple more days to mull it over.

Gah.
Seems McCain has the only SOLID and "on paper" plan that makes sense to me. The rest of the lot of 'em can spout off all they want-but until they TELL ME HOW they'll do it.....they might as well be spitting into the wind.

*just my thoughts!*
(shrug)

Well T...

I agree with you on the Hilary portion of this. Not so much with your thoughts about McCain. Yes he does have military experience. I see how you are passionate about your state and Katrina. I'm not getting much from any of them about my state and illegal immigration. That's a big one for me. Currently my vote is going for Ralph Nader. Now a lot of people are going to say why waste your vote, he can't win. Well if everybody that thought that way maybe the third party would have a chance. I can't vote dem or rep with a good conscience at this point.
:)~
btw..my dad and uncle are vets of WWII.

T! WWII Vets!

Re: Papa Page. Yup! ;-)
FYI: I thought of signing on USN to see just how much I could keep up with the Nephew at Basic. I'd be "MU" (Musician, what else?).

He's going "HM" (Hospital Corpsman). How cool is THAT? And when he gets out? DR. C.O. Hillman, Radiologist. SWEET.

As to third-party??
People forget that's a VERY LEGIT option here.
They also forget that US Citizens of legal votin' age can WRITE IN whoever they darn well please.

Fi said she's got a Lukather/Phillips '08 tee?
Don't think I haven't considered THAT. But Si is naturalized ---dunno if he'd qualify to run for office; think ya gotta be born here. Aw ...RATS!

ANYWAY.
Yeah; people forget third-party stuff. Nader may get a lot of votes that way. Heck; I may still vote for Fred Thompson! (I was a Fred-Head there for a few weeks!).

Two days I have to mull over the MS primary and pray about it. I may disagree on some things with some people; but at least I'll go into this informed and hopefully that will be the lynchpin of my vote.

We'll see.
I might write in a cuz of mine who busts his @$$ in Africa and Turkmenistan and Khazikstan feeding his kids. What does cuz do? Over see operations of a BIG (!) oil company. I remember you said you cats and chic pay upward of $3.60/gallon, or did.
Do you know my cuz told me WHY?

"...they have no oil refineries in California; so they have to pump it in from Nevada and Utah and Arizona and wherever else, and that raises their price at the pump; because it's imported across state lines."

!!!!!!!!!
obnote That sounds like a domestic issue IMHO only.... I've had to 'splain that to some MS drivers who ain't got clue one.
Do you know also that Gold is the anchor for oil prices?
Never would have thought the gold hoops in my ears and the ring on my finger had anything to do with the price of the oil in my Dad's czr and truck.
I have learned this this past year.
LAST time I checked: GOLD were $970 per troy ounce.
$970 for 12 ounces of the shiny stuff. Jeweller I know said, "It's headed for $1200.00".
I hope he can stay in bizness...he got a 2 year old kid to feed.

Stuff you kind of learn snoopin' around researching the issues. I thought they had a direct tie-in, gold and oil. I know now, it's true.

Wild, huh?

I think California's already voted in the primary; Mom didn't think ours was this Tuesday. We'll vote here before we leave for Jaxtown for a landlord conference.

*heh*

It's probably just a career

It's probably just a career like any other else. I'm waiting for someone new. No one in sight for the moment, just the same old people doing their chameleon trick.
