I just noticed something in this photo I had overlooked. The smaller tom? Acrylic. The larger?
Painted a very nice color. One wooden; one not.
DIFFERENT SOUND for each drum. He definitely "Marched to a different drummer". Jeff did what he wanted to hear---Sklar said he thought Jeff was very brave to do this.

I agree.

I think this is why so many of us miss his unique style from behind the 'business end' of a set of Regals. Such a beautiful way of playing that touched millions of lives. A True Gift, indeed. Those glasses NEVER got in his way-and if they did? Gone!
*LOL* (The "Lido Shuffle" live gig? One minute there; the next? Oh well...bet his optician hated to see him coming!). *giggling* They get EXPENSIVE after a while. *ha ha ha*

The excitement in his playing showed on his face.
I believe I read from an interview a statment by his Dad, "To say that Jeff was a character is a huge understatement!"

That "Character" came out in his musicianship.
A joy to hear....always!!!!
And to learn from!
He is STILL a huge inspiration for me.
