Semper Augustus Tulip

Wow, I thought this was a watercolor, pastel or a giclee or something! What a great pic your took. You need to print out these pics and frame them...they're beautiful.

That's so beautifull!!! I love roses however I love the gladiolus more (is that the right name?).
Hugs from Holland!

Oh! You just reminded me of my Dad's mother-who is not doing well.
My Grandmother has Sundowner's Syndrome and doesn't sometimes even know Dad's in the room visiting.
When Mamaw O'Rell was younger and not sick, she would plant the gladiolus....she just called them "Glads".
Beautiful purple ones and white with pink and pink with white and yellow that made me happy just to see them because they looked like Sunshine!
They are BEAUTIFUL flowers.

I used to have them in my garden too but it's always such a pity that when they get high they bend to the ground.
Hugs from Holland!

I just remembered you re-named this one in honor of Jeff. ;-)
Nice to see it's blooming. It's so weird how tonight there's a FROST WARNING for us! ALL my roses are under flannel sheets (literally!), and a small garden I've planted (flower seed, some mums, etc) is also under flannel.
I even put sheets over a Japanese Red Maple and the only Crepe in the yard.
*lol*
I'm not kidding----it's supposed to be a killing frost before tomorrow's sunrise.
NOT good.
Have fun with the roses. I'll have to tell you whether or not Miss Sterling and her sisters survive the night.
*sigh...*

Yummy! My azaleas are in full bloom and my hydrageas are sprouting leaves-yippee! My poor sweet bay mags are a bit wind burned though...hopefully they will shake it off!
:)

are just about done...The nice thing about your different climates are you really have seasons ours just meld together...
:)~

I dunno...the last few years we've seen some melding of our own...last year spring and fall lasted about a day and a half-combined! :)~ I love my azaleas though-Encores-they bloom twice a year.

Wow, Tanya, thanks for this post!
Hope everything's going well out there for you and yours!
LYMI, ws

Hey nice to see you up here. Where ya been?
:)~

Just wanted to come here and see if i could still feel the love.... :-D.
It's exciting to see all the cool stuff happening here. If I EVER get out of Misery (formal spelling would be Missouri), I plan to frolic on the West coast...
LYMI,
ws

That is so so pretty! I love roses...I'm jealous, we're suppose to get snow tonight and tomorrow. That's it, I'm moving! HAHA
MySpace Page

It was 90 degrees over the weekend and now supposed to cool down again...
:)~

I'm guessing not enough to snow though...! :)~ (Sorry, Pat! ) We're not at 90 yet...and we're cooling down for a few days too...and no snow either...we're just sitting around in limbo unsure of weather to jump into our shorts or drag the parkas back out. I'm ahead of the game though. I'm wearing my parka over my shorts.
:)~

Beautiful! I love wisteria! Do you have a problem with it choking out other stuff?

DEE!
FOR NOW, yes...I am feeling better.
Test scheduled for 24th April at noon.
I'll know by about 1:30pm that day what the deal is.
;-)
Got any azalea photos?? My sister left the pink ones she planted still HERE when she moved---they bloomed about 2 weeks ago -early start!???
Last week it was 81(F) in the shade.
Tonight?
Freeze warning.
My rosebud flannel sheets and reindeer flannel sheets have been called to active duty protecting roses and flower I just don't want to lose!
YIKES!
You oughtta see Mom's yard! BIG garbage bags over 3 crepe myrtles that just started showing leavss about a week ago.
This is WACKY!

When we had the freeze 2 winters ago I was so consumed with the damn mexican lime tree that I completely forgot about the verigated ficus. I think I'm going to have to pull and chuck it this year...what a tragedy!!! Oh momma!!!
:)~

I don't THINk I've missed anything.
ALL roses (transplanted ones and inherited!), as many
marigolds and other small critters as possible (i.e. petunia's; cosmos seed....etc).
I covered a pot of Day Lily and Ivy and Mums, and the Parsley (one small pot) brought indoors and the other window box has a towel around it.
I HOPE it all survives.
The blackberries i've been watching are still bright red. If the frost doesn't kill 'em, they'll be yummy!
But it might get 'em.
We shall see.

I lost one this year on an arbor on top of my hill, I'm so bummed!!! The one in the front isn't very big, although it would like to be! I had two pots out front one year, gave one a way and then I planted the other on top of the hill. (one that just died) When I took it up it had rooted through the pot and this is the result of the root that was in the ground. In summer I am constantly cutting it out of the birch tree. That it would definitely strangle.
You could say it'll eat the house.

Back in the day this vine covered an acre of land over two properties!!!
:)~

HOLY SMOKE! Look at that! Isn't that something! Beautiful. Where is this?

Every March is the Wisteria Festival. Cute little quint town east of Pasadena.
From wikipedia
Wisteria vines climb by twining their stems either clockwise or counter-clockwise round any available support. They can climb as high as 20 m above ground and spread out 10 m laterally. The world's largest known Wisteria vine is located in Sierra Madre, California, measuring more than an acre in size and weighing 250 tons.

On Huell Howser's show...looked pretty cool.
I'll have to get out there sometime.
Your flowers are gorgeous!

Call first. Apparently there are times when the wisteria is closed.....right, Tanya!
