Hi Everyone,
As many of you know we went to Bham today for some further testing on Ella Kate. It is confirmed that she has Cystic Fibrosis. However, this does not mean she won't have a good quality of life. While we were hoping for different results, we remain very positive and hopeful for Ella Kate's future and the possible treatment/cures the furture holds. The progress in treating the disease over the past 10 years has made leaps and bounds. The fact that this was dicovered so early in her life (3 wks) also greatly improves our ability to began addressing symptoms of CF she doesnt even have right now. In fact, she has no syptoms at all. The specialist at Childrens in Bham was not very familiar with the genetic make-up of her CF. We are going to make every effort to get into Vanderbilt. Shannon and I always prayed for God's will during her pregnancy, once we found out she might have CF and now that she is a confirmed CF patient. Our prayer will not change. Our faith in God's will is steadfast and strong. She has been a blessing since day one and will continue to be through out her life. Our only request is to pray for God's will. No sympathy, sadness or negativity. If any of you want to reply back thats fine, but please, no " I'm so sorry's." God made her and thats enough for us!

I'm so glad y'all know one way or the other regarding her diagnosis. I've worked with a beautiful Down Syndrome buddy of mine. I started working with Jess and we became fast friends. She's a DOLL, and though her condition warrants she be careful (i.e. Jess is a 'free bleeder'!)....she's still truckin' at 26. This kid was home schooled, and still got her IEQ from Hattiesburg High.
I know only one case of CF in my area. It's a tough thing, but somehow, I see Ella Kate having a very happy life with y'all.
God does NOT make mistakes.
OF THIS, I am convinced.
She's gonna have a story to tell later and it's gonna be all about God's Grace. I just *know it!*.

I admire you guys for the
I admire you guys for the strong fairh you have. The saying goes that God doesn't give one more to bear than they can handle. I believe that but it doesn't mean it can be tough sometimes. However I'm finding out more and more as I grow older that everything happens for a reason. Sometimes you know immediately and sometimes you'll have to wait a couple of years untill you discover the reason.

My niece had a little girl that was born with eye cancer. I know many others that have had problems for their little ones. And then there are people like me that could never have children, therefore I adopted. So with that said, I've come to the conclusion that God gives us these great gifts for a reason. With little Ella Kate, He gave you that sweet little girl, because He knew the strength you have in your heart and soul to take good care of her. With our little Brynnie, He gave her to my niece, knowing her and her husband had the strength to take care of her. As for me, He knew I had the strength to be able to take on children that didn't have parents and He knew I would treat them as my own with all the love a natural Mother could give their child. God works in the greatest ways always, we just have to listen to and watch the signs He gives us...He never gives us a problem without the answer. I'm thankful that you got little Ella Kate, she couldn't have any better parents. God Bless all 3 of you.

This is definitely something that will make you stronger, open doors of ministry for you, and teach you about the different aspects of Gods character. You are approaching this with the the right attitude. Good on ya.

But , like Pat has adopted kids for a reason, and little Brynnie was a gift to her parents : God has a reason for all He does. When J was born he had clubfeet and i guess that was my test. I'm so glad that there are so many talented doctors in the world ! J's birth was planned to be at home , but more than 20 hours after my water broke , i had to go to the hospital.I choose the one that was closest to my home. When we saw his feet , offcourse we were shocked.But my sis had everybody crying when she told J : you are perfect , just the way you are. Even nurses with years on their job were teary-eyed after her words ..... The morning after we went to see a doctor and J's muscle were very much too short. But you know what : that doctor who would be treating him for the next 3 years ? He was the best there is in this particulair area ,clubfeet. Did God have a reason with my labour going that way ? And me choosing this hospital ? I believe so ! All my love to the 3 of you

Since Shannon got pregnant, all I ever prayed for was God's will. That is still the case and will never change. God's will is all we have and all we need!
Please pray that if God can find it is his will that Ella Kate will be fine! Pray for the Doctors and staff as well!

Hey, man.
I have to tell you that throughout my own 37 years, I fought just to breathe for the first few weeks.
For some reason I've yet to figure out, God allowed me to live---and gave me the ability to understand and write and read Music (an intangible Gift until written out on paper, or put on tape!).
THat God would do that for me, small as I am, consistently blows my mind.
He would not grant Ella Kate to you without a wonderful purpose for her life. There's always a reason. Keep praying. I get "yes", "no" and "not right now" a whole LOT when asking Him questions.
Sometimes it's years before I "get" the reason why.
But He always manages to teach me something in the meantime.
Hug Ella Kate for me. I am most definitely praying His Grace in her life, and for her parents too!
Hang onto Him. He won't ever leave you stranded.
(That just ain't the way He works!)
