Though some of you networkers would appreciate this for a Sunday evening, it's Ry Cooder who is one of my favorite guitar players, the backing singers in this are Awesome!
James Taylor another great singer/guitar man ( whom i've learned about recently through Grazia ) was influenced by this guy!
hope you enjoy it!
the song is called "At The Dark End of the street"
Rich.

Wow George, this is really great, you just made my Sundayevening a little bit better!!!
Hugs from Holland!
Music is the answer!

Thanks St. George ! this is a favorite version of a favorite song of mine! I've been a big fan of Ry's for years and his playing has been an inspiration. He's a true virtuoso. A few years ago was lucky enough to meet him and we talked for almost an hour about music, politics and the music biz. Wish I'd recorded it! The band is the Chicken Skin Revue featuring Flaco Jimenez on accordian and Bobby King and Terry Evans on vocals. 'Dark End of the Street' was first recorded by James Carr, a stuning soul singer. James' life was almost as sad as the song. He was bipolar, and due to his illness he never was able to find success.

you actually met the guy, your so lucky!
i would love just to see him play live, but he does'nt seem to do much outside of the US these days.

I've seen him a few times..he's great! he lives in Santa Monica and doing some work on 'Chavez Ravine' at Westlake Audio. My friend Wes Dooley makes high-end ribbon mics has known him for years, he knew I was a big fan of Ry's and that I lived near there(I used to work there), suggested I drop the mic off and meet him. Ry is very eclectic and he's always looking for different styles of music to learn and people to play with. Unfortunately the "biz" can't mass market that easily and so he doesn't get the exposure he deserves(sound famiiar?)...I've been very lucky in my life to be around a lot of great music and musicians. Funny thing was that I recently played at an Audio Engineering Society meeting demoing mics for Wes. He told me when he called that he had asked Ry and he was busy, so he called me. Don't know if Wes was pulling my leg, but it sure was flattering..

Thanks StGeorge. This is a true classic in the genre of songs about 'illicit love'. I knew the Ronstadt version but this one is completely new to me. Great find!

your right it is a great version of a classic song, played by one of the best musicians ever!
